Perception Shift : The New Reality
Jeankarlos Cruz is an abstract and conceptual artist whose works include mixed media drawings and paintings. He constructs an abstract vocabulary to investigate and communicate the essence of environment both physical and intangible dissolving immediate associations and meanings. His process of forming, finding, and deconstructing the image requires manipulation of surface to communicate meaning in social struggles, ancestry, and the placement of objects between.
Jeankarlos Cruz (b. 1993) earned a BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in 2015 and a BA from the International Culinary Center in 2017. His work has been included in many private collections, and he has participated in multiple group exhibits in the New York City area over the last ten years. Jeankarlos has exhibited in group shows at New Jersey City University, Jersey City (2009), MasterCard Worldwide, Purchase (2010), City Hall, Union City (2010), Qbava Gallery, Union City (2010), Qbava Gallery, Union City (2012), Union City Museum of Art, Union City (2013), The Cooper Union, New York (2014), The Statuary, Jersey City (2014), Park Theater, Union City (2015), Savannah College of Art and Design, Savannah (2016), History Holland Street, Jersey City (2016), and Field Colony, Hoboken (2018).
