Artist-in-Residence Program

Visual Arts

Program

The Field Colony Artist-in-Residence Program offers artists a non-living private studio space for one month in a professional environment that encourages dialogue, creativity, and experimentation.

In accordance with Field Colony's mission, the Residency Program will also facilitate meetings between artists and collectors, as well as dealers, critics, and the greater public. The residency is self-directed and artists are expected to work independently. In addition, artists who are accepted are requested to actively use their studio for a minimum of 20 hours a week, and to lead a class / lecture about their processes.

Every month, our residency program is open to 1-2 visual artists working in painting, sculpture, installation, video, and new media. Artists selected for the residency program receive a private studio and 24-hour access to our facility.

Eligibility

All applicants must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States and may not take part in another residency at the same time as the Field Colony Artist-in-Residence Program.

Cost

The cost of the residency is $500 and the submission of one work of art from your residency series chosen by our committee to be placed in Field Colony's Residency Collection.

Application and Deadlines

While submissions are open throughout the year, our main selection committee reviews applications monthly. Applications for each month must be submitted on or before the last day of the preceding month. Applicants will receive an e-mail from Field Colony confirming that we have received an application. Selected artists will be notified when the committee has finished reviews. Please be patient in this process. We will contact you should we need more information, and to notify you of your application status when the time comes.

If you would like to submit a physical application by mail (or necessary physical items to accompany your digital application), please see the online application for what to include and mail to:
